bright as a bird?
we have so much to learn from God’s creatures.
the other night Eva and I went to pick up a stuffed-crust pizza from Pizza Hut - to celebrate her graduation from Dallas Seminary! - and we saw the building of a brilliant little bird. this itty-bitty creature had nestled itself in the "a" of "Pizza." it’s hard to see it clearly in the picture, but all I had was the camera on my phone. look closely. it’s all the rage, I hear…bird huts.
as we marveled at this resourceful omnivore, chomping away on our celebratory cheese-filled crust, I just had to praise God. his creatures know how to make do. do we?
I’m seeing more evidence that we do. we bought Eva a new eco-pillow that is "filled with 100% recycled polyester fiber made from recycled soda bottles." good idea. very good idea. but a pillow is only part of a home. can we compete with our feathered friend?
we’re trying. we’re constructing various forms of the Container City. when you buy something, almost anything, at any given store, it probably arrived in the States via oceanic shipping in a large metal container. after the containers are unloaded, they’re discarded. it’s cheaper to make new ones in China and ship goods than to send them back to be re-used. thankfully, we’re now reusing them for residential, commercial, and recreational spaces:
slowly, we’re learning. all it takes is a little creativity. as much as an ant?
Proverbs 30:24-27
24 Four things on earth are small,
but they are exceedingly wise:
25 the ants are a people not strong,
yet they provide their food in the summer;
26 the rock badgers are a people not mighty,
yet they make their homes in the cliffs;
27 the locusts have no king,
yet all of them march in rank.
